End of Year Wrap-Up

Our school year in Mexico goes through the first week in July.  As with all schools, the last few weeks are super busy with activities.

This spring I have been co-leading a small group of middle-school girls.  We have had a great few months working through the book Lies Young Women Believe, plus enjoying sleep-overs, the movies, and going to the beach.

The last week in June, I helped chaperone the sixth grade class trip.  We went to a camp outside of Cuernavaca, Mexico.  It was so.cold. I am not even kidding.  I had on four layers and a hat at one point, and I was still shivering.  It rained almost the whole time we were there, but our students never missed a beat.  They were happy as clams.  (I don't really understand that saying.  Just how would one determine that a clam is happy?)

finished!

This year I had the opportunity to be in the preschool/kindergarten room all day as the English teacher.  I have enjoyed these little guys so much and am glad that I will have them again next year as they move to first grade.

The weekend after school ended, a group of us returned to Yoloxóchitl to work with the missionary family living in the village.  We presented a VBS program for the kids.  Every time we go, they are more open and excited to see us.  They even remembered our names this time!  God willing, we will return in October or November to continue working with them.  Please continue to pray for these kids and this village.
