A dad and mom tomato were walking along. They turned to their tomato kid and said, "Hey! Catch up!"
It's funny because it sounds like ketchup.
Anyhoo. Here are a few things happening in Acapulco.
May is the month of special days. We celebrated Día del Niño, Cinco de Mayo, Día de la Madre, and Día de los Maestros. Only dads got shortchanged this month, but they get a day next month. Unfortunately, all the celebrations were in the first two weeks of May, right after spring break. And now, after two weeks off and two weeks of parties, we are back to our regularly scheduled program. Needless to say, today was rough.
Your student to meet for today is this little guy. We'll call him Alexander. This is one of the most genuinely joyful kids I have the privilege of knowing. He always, always has a smile on his face and gives me a big hug every time he sees me. At the beginning of class, I ask each student how they are. They have learned the words 'happy,' 'sad,' 'angry,' 'sleepy,' 'scared,' and 'sick.' No matter which feeling or emotion Alex tells me, he says it with the biggest smile on his face, so it is hard to believe he is anything other than happy. Once he fell on the playground. I asked him if he was okay, and he said, "NO!" With an enormous smile still on his face. He is so full of joy and a joy to teach.
And finally, I have been listening to Chelsea Moon's Hymn Project, Vol. 1 practically non-stop. Check it out!
