Seen, Heard, and Said...School Edition

Working at the school in NC has been fun for so many reasons, one of which is the joy and laughter the students bring me daily. Here are some sample conversations to give you a little insight into the daily interactions I am privileged to have with these kids.

Overheard on the playground
Teacher: Sweetheart, don't put rocks in your underwear. Just...don't.
Student: But, I don't have any pockets.

Me to 8th grader: You have an hour to work on your project.
8th grader: I am finished already. I mean, technically, I haven't started. But, I'm practically finished because I know what I am doing. It's all in my brain.

Me to 1st grader: Okay, take a deep breath and chill out a little bit.
Student: I am too spicy to chill out.

3rd grade class: What is your name?
Me: Miss M---------
Class: That is way too hard. Can we call you Miss W---'s Sister?
(I happen to look a lot like another teacher at the school.)
Me: But, I'm not Miss W----'s sister
Class: Really? Okay, how about Miss Looks Like You Should Be Miss W----'s Sister But You're Not?
Me: Is that really easier than Miss M---------?
Class: Totally easier.
