SPLICE

I have been home for almost 2 weeks now. SPLICE was an intense, tough 3 weeks. But it was really good. I think I am still processing some of what we discussed during the training.

I have tried to come up with a good way to sum up my experience at MTI in Colorado, but I haven't been able to yet. So, I will just share with you 3 points we discussed that I hold pretty tightly to right now.

1. God is God.
2. God is not safe, but He is faithful.
3. God is good.

Would you care to elaborate on #2? Being a Christian is one of the hardest things I've ever done simply because I have to trust Him with everything...even when I don't want to and can't see the whole picture. It's about giving over your life to him totally and trusting him to BE God because he IS God. I'm excited about the journey He has ahead of you!

Do you remember in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe when the Beavers are telling the children about Aslan? Lucy asked if Aslan was safe. Mr. Beaver says, “Safe? . . . Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

God asked Abraham to give up everything he knew—his home, his people—and go. Go where? God just said that He would show Abraham when he got there. Can you imagine? But, God is faithful, and He promised Abraham He would fulfill His word. And with Isaac. God had told Abraham he would be the father of many nations . . . and then He asked Abraham to sacrifice the child through which that promise would be carried out. Not a safe God, but again, Abraham knew God would be faithful to His promise, and that somehow that promise would be fulfilled.

He challenges us to live the Gospel in a radical way, to be light in darkness. We aren’t called to live timidly and play it safe. We can be assured that He will be faithful to fulfill every promise, because He is God, and He is good.
