Low Country Boil

This afternoon I experienced my very first low-country boil. I have NO idea how, living in the south, I have made it 29 years without participating in one of these rites of passage, but alas, I have not (one thing to add to my "29 new things for my 29th year" list though. Score!) My friend Amy J. put the event together in celebration of her husband's 30th birthday.

Here is what I have to say about the low-country boil. Shrimp...good! Kielbasa...good! Potatos...good! Corn...good! Crawfish....um...they kept staring at me...from the plate. I am just not sure of any food that comes with the following directions: "Rip off the heads and suck out the guts."

Amy H. and I enjoy the crawfish.

Birthday Boy Adam is attacked by a crawfish. (A common danger when you eat food that can stare at you.)

Katie the word bayou is stirring up an ancient memory...didn't you once babysit for a kid who liked to play "Bayou Billy"?? Am I even spelling that right?

I guess you imitating the weird scary voice was weird and scary for me! So I remembered it!

"Ya wanna play Bay-ooouuuuuu Billy?"
