34 Things for 34 Years

I gotta say, trying to do new things every year is becoming more and more difficult.  One of these days I am going to have to break down and jump out of a plane or bungee jump or eat possum or something equally as terrifying/disgusting.

That being said, with an adventurous spirit and a lot of creative license, here's the list:

  1. Read the Bible in Chronological order.
  2. Read the Hunger Games.
  3. Loved it, so read Catching Fire.
  4. Loved it, so read Mockingjay.
  5. Wondered how I would ever be entertained again.
  6. Until, YES!, I saw the Hunger Games movie.
  7. Went into Hunger Games withdrawal.
  8. Accepted the fact that I am a huge dork.
  9. Taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade ESL...huge shock after preschool.
  10. Found Pinterest.  Wasted many hours of my life.
  11. Lived with a Mexican family.
  12. Zumba!
  13. Went into exercise withdrawal after our Zumba teacher lost hope in us and quit.
  14. Started running (for real this time.)
  15. Ran a full 25 minutes without stopping once to walk.
  16. Got to 5K in my running plan (with some walking, but mostly running.)
  17. Experienced Geocaching.
  18. Talked American politics with an Egyptian over lunch in Mexico.
  19. Went to a pro tennis final (Mexican Open.)
  20. Took kids to Camp Kikoten, quite possibly the only place in Mexico where you might die of hypothermia.  Brrrrr.
  21. Went camping at Aventura Santa Rosa...
  22. Where I zip-lined in Mexico.  Not nearly as sketch as I thought it would be.
  23. Bought a guitar.
  24. And actually began to learn how to play it.
  25. Learned what it is like to be a camp counselor for elementary school boys.  Not something I want to repeat.
  26. Participated in a ropes course program in Mexico.  Not nearly as sketch as I thought it would be.
  27. Went rappelling at La Roqueta.  Not nearly as sketch as I thought it would be.
  28. Became "Draw Something" obsessed.
  29. Experienced a 7.4, 6.3, and several hundred 5.0 earthquakes in the span of two weeks.
  30. Ate REALLY fresh turkey.  Poor Tom.
  31. Considered becoming a vegetarian while eating Poor Tom.
  32. Helped with a medical missions clinic in Yoloxochitl.
  33. Took several hundred peoples' blood pressure and never passed out once.
  34. AND, survived living in the fourth most dangerous city in the world.  BOO-YAH.
Welcome, 35.
