And Women's Rights Activists Around the World Hang Their Heads and Wonder Where They Went Wrong

But, whatever. I don't claim to wave the flag for feminists causes.

My friend Shannon is visiting this weekend. As we left church this morning, I was confronted by a flat tire on my car. Bummer.

Shannon immediately jumped into action. I immediately jumped into helplessness. Our conversation went something like this:

Shannon: Have you changed a tire before?

Mandy: Um, no. Surely a boy will walk by and help us, right?

S: Mandy, we can totally do this! Do you have a spare tire?

M: I don't know? Where is a boy?

S: Focus! Let's find the jack.

M: Okay, sure. Um.........okay, any minute a boy is going to walk by and see we are distressed and totally take care of this situation and find the jack. And the spare tire.

S: Unlock the car, and I will get the owner's manual.

M: Right. Let's find the stuff and get it ready so the boys will have everything they need to change the tire. Where is a boy???

This went on for a few minutes, when (thank heavens!!) a nice man named Craig came over and changed the tire. See? I totally knew that would happen.

Shannon was surprised to see me become so incredibly defenseless and girly so quickly. I, however, am not at all shocked by this. I asked a few friends throughout the day and found that 100% of girls polled have not changed a single tire when confronted with a flat. And that's just the way it should be.

LOL! I can totally picture this story unfolding. Props to Shannon for taking charge... although.. I would probably look for a boy. Praise the Lord for the nice gentlemen out there.

That's why you always have a cell phone on you to call someone else to come do it :)

I have never changed a tire. Good thing I have 3 boys! In a few years, I will be set in case of tire emergencies!

Sorry about that. I am almost afraid to say I have never had a flat tire, but I haven't. Believe me I would start praying for some kind, knowledgeable person to appear. I MIGHT be able to locate the jack and the spare, but the rest would be chaos!

Love, Mom

That was hilarious! I'm with you completely. A boy always shows up, they just do. It's a natural law, like gravity. :)

I am thinking you handled it perfectly!
