First off, a shout-out to my nephew Logan, who is 5 years old today! He is a delight and joy to everyone who knows him. Logan had a spectacular party today despite the frigid arctic blast that has made its way back to the South. As you can see, one of his presents was a new bike! Check out the get-up he is riding in, too. Baseball batter's gloves and sunglasses.
Last night I joined a group of friends from church at Schoeder's, a local restaurant. We even had live entertainment, provided by one member of the group. It was a great time! Pics are below, in album format (just click on the pic to see the album.)

And finally, just to keep things interesting, I have to mention the new experiment I am considering. A few days ago I was clicking through blogs and came across a post by Wondergirl.
Go ahead and read then join me again.
Ready?
You know where I am going with this, right? I have to admit, I am very intrigued. Call me crazy (or lazy...), but this does appeal to some part of me. Probably the melungeon part of me. So, I've been thinking. If I could ever do this, it would be this summer or right when I move to Mexico. Then, if it works, I NEVER HAVE TO WASH MY HAIR AGAIN. Think of all the money and time I would save. What do you think?

girl-i am so glad you linked to wondergirl! i have been wanting to find her blog again. hmmm, i would be very curious to try that hair thing out. how about you do it first and then, like document it...
we'll all follow suit!
happy b-day, Logan!!
I am thinking, eww, gross! I can start a car with the oil in my hair after one day. Last time I checked, pure water doesn't cut through oil. ;)
I enjoy random kid outfits.
I also enjoy the Teacher of the year title, and thanks for supporting my husband last night.
So I read Wondergirl's, and I read the other dude's and I think this should definitely be a Mexico experiment. But wait, isn't the water different there? Remember what the other dude said, you have to keep a controlled experiment. I say you do it before you go, in June. This would really be great for you because your hair is so out-of-this-world funky anyway...imagine the possibilities. Please do it!!! I may join you!!
I know, Becky, right? Imagine!! If it works, it could be amazing...
I totally think you should try this with me. Plus, think of the blogging potential for this.
Shannon, the beauty of this is that after the six weeks of horror, your hair will be perfectly balanced (theoretically), and the oil problem will resolve itself. Theoretically.
Oh, and Katie, the whole experience will be thoroughly documented, of course. I have been looking for blog material. This should work perfectly.
So our discussion about this blog last night prompted me to do two things:
1) read the links about the Mulungeons. Still fascinates me!
2) waste a lot of water in the shower as I contemplated just "taking the plunge" with you into your experiment.
I compromised and skipped the shampoo but did wash my hair with my bar soap (Burt's Bees) instead of shampoo aka Sodium Laureth Sulfate. I also skipped the conditioner. I have to say, I liked it and the results. My hair feels very different today.
I may do this for a while and see how it works!
You are such an inspiration! :)
The things you find on the web...
Mandy, Can you email me? Jen
I guess it would help if you knew which Jen this is. :)
It's Jen Waltermyer.
I love Logan, but it's time for something new! :)
