Ski Bama

Yesterday morning my plans for the evening were to do laundry, rest and relax, and pretty much vegetate after a week of craziness in first grade. But, sometime toward the end of the day, my co-worker Amy thought it would be more fun to go skiing. You can't really argue with that logic. Now, we live in a place that doesn't exactly have any snow. And does have a daily high in the 50s. How in the world there is a place to ski about an hour away, I am not sure, but there is. One little slope, and it is SO MUCH FUN.

Amy comes to a stop at the bottom of the massive mountain.

Yeah, how cool do I look? Because I am a "beginner" they refused to give me poles. Jerks.

Koen (no H!) aka Picaboo Street. Koen is really good at skiing. Disgustingly good.

Some of you may remember a little Blog War Koen and Amy J had recently. Through the Magic of Ski Bama, they have reconciled their differences and are once again friends.

This was little Addie's (Amy's daughter) first experience with snow. So, of course, snow angels were a must.

They didn't give you poles?! That sucks! But look on the bright side, at least they didn't give you skis with the front tips bungee tied together!! Some beginners get stuck with those...

How long did it take you to get down the "mountain" on your first run?

You may not have poles, but at least you had awesome ski pants!

Luke and I thought we might give that a try one Saturday night...how much did it set you back?

Koen is from TEXAS! I know they think they're the best at everything, but seriously, skiing?

;) Love ya, Emily!

I miss snow.

Michelle--no poles. And let me tell ya, skiing might just be better for me than snowboarding. I didn't fall once and actually got the hang of it pretty quick. No embarrasing 90 minute runs down the slope.

Becky--it really wasn't too bad. Rentals, lift ticket, and a lesson if you want it) are $30. Except I talked them into giving me the student discount because I am with kids ALL day EVERY day and they can't be students without teachers.

Shannon--I KNOW!!! How in the world was she so good? She was going all the way to the top and RACING down, taking the jump, getting air. Ridiculous.

Really, this was so much fun! I highly recommend it...and yes, Amy and I are once again blogger friends. Shannon, you must remember that I am from Texas (west of here...closer to Colorado, where the best skiing is). I went to Colorado at least once (one year I went skiing 3 times) every year from 7th grade to 11th grade with my youth group. I'm basically a professional. I'm starting to train for the olympics.
Mandy and Amy were both very good, too! We had SO much fun.

wow, mandy -
so you never had to use your "unique" technique to get back up after a fall on skis?!?!? :) I am impressed! Come back out to Colorado, you'll be conquering the mogul runs in no time!!

Joe mentioned to Logan that we'd take him there one night. Thanks for the pricing info!

I don't understand why they didn't give you poles - seems like that would be a must.
