Advertising Genius

I am intrigued by inflatable shapes in advertising. I think what is most fascinating is imagining the staff meeting where the decision is made to invest in one of these fine pieces of advertising genius. Can't you just picture it? The boss lists off all the things the staff needs to make happen before the big grand opening or the big Memorial Day sale, and then he says, "Oh, and we're gonna need one of those giant inflatable dinosaurs. Somebody get on that asap." I am not sure if the staff agrees or just doesn't have the nerve to tell the boss that he really doesn't need a giant inflatable dinosaur, but somehow, the giant inflatable shape companies stay in business and these babies end up scattered all along my route to work.

At a staff meeting a few months ago, we had a brainstorming session to come up with ways to boost the sale of our very famous fund-raiser. I decided try a little experiment and find out the kind of person that takes to the idea of an inflatable as a marketing tool. So, I submitted the idea of us putting a giant purple gorilla on top of the building. For the record, the kind of person that appreciates inflatable animals in advertising is not the kind of person that works in my office.
